Hey Football Fam,
As term 1 fast approaches we wanted to bring you some exciting updates. With our new status, as an incorporated association, and in to benefit from Football Queensland (FQ) affiliation and Queensland Government Play On we need to operate on a membership basis, rather than the old ad-hoc basis.
That been said, we want to make sure that we have different membership types available to make the club accessible for everyone to enjoy.
For term 1 we will offer social soccer on Sunday afternoon and skills training on a weekday afternoon (to be determined). We will run two groups for each activity, one for under 9s and one for kids 9 and over.
Dependent on membership numbers, in term 2 and 3 we would like to introduce internal competitive games, also on a Sunday, so that those that want to, can get a taste of being part of a team and completing against other teams from within the club.
Being part of FQ means that we can also enter teams into the Bundy and Gladstone leagues if we want to, however we want to offer this internal team vs team option on a local level for those that do not want to travel each weekend. Whether these internal teams are five-a-side or larger will depend on how much interest there is from the kids across age groups and we will use term 1 to gauge interest.
At this stage the plan will be to have the following membership types:
- Social Player Membership
- For members who just want to join in the Social Soccer on a Sunday arvo.
- Skills Training Membership
- For members who want to join in the Social Soccer events on a Sunday arvo as well as attend the weekly Skills training sessions run by our coaches.
- Full Internal Competition membership
- For members who want to enjoy the Social Soccer, the skills training and be a part of the internal team competition in terms 2 and 3
- FQ competition players (dependent on available numbers)
- For members who want to play in a competitive league in Gladstone or Bundy.
- These teams will require the parents to provide a designated coach and team manager and travel to the games in either Bunday or Gladstone or their set days.
- The price will vary based on the age of the kids i.e. under 10’s, under 11’s. etc.
We are waiting on FQ to come back to us with the cost of insurance for each type of membership so that we can determine the relevant membership fees, however we are anticipating that the full internal competition membership will not be more than $250.00 for the whole year and we will be able to accept Play On vouchers which will cover $200 of that membership if you are able to get one for your child.
We are still setting up the new membership system so the first couple of weeks will be free and open to everyone as a “come and try” option
As well as being fully insured through the FQ affiliation, these memberships will also include playing Jerseys for each member, loads of training and playing time and the use of lots more equipment, which we will be funding through local sponsors… it is really exciting and going to be a fantastic year.
In order to understand demand for this year, can you please complete the following short survey in relation to membership types and training days.
